About the Founder:
Deborah Smith, INA Board Member and President of Parents With Nannies, Inc.

Back in my college days (oh, about 20 years ago now) I worked as a full time Nanny.  I had always taken care of children, actually since the time I was eleven, so it seemed like the natural thing to do to help pay for my college credits.  I started with my employers when their daughter was three months old and quickly fell in love.  I did what many nannies do, brag about their charge to others and take great pride in every little milestone.  Unfortunately, I also experienced the less satisfying side of nannying, the long hours and isolation.  (Back then we didn't have the Internet to help us reach out to other nannies for advice and companionship.)  So, after a year it was time I left my charge and went to college full-time.

After graduating from Rutgers University, I went to work as the Executive Director of a medium size Chamber of Commerce, moved on from there to become Chief of Staff for a State Senator and two Assembly people, and finally, worked for four years as  Research Administrator for the New Jersey State Lottery.  When my first son was born in 1997,  I decided to stay home with my newborn and start my own business.  

It was then that I discovered the internet and started doing research on the Nanny industry.  Parents With Nannies ( the discussion group ) was created back in 1998 as a way to talk to other Parents and Nannies and to get their input on what services were needed in the Nanny world (once a market researcher, always a market researcher.)  Over the course of a year of research, it became clear to me that there was a real need for an all-inclusive website like this one where parents, nannies and agency owners could get information, advice, feedback from fellow parents and nannies, and a place to advertise for a provider or job.  

So, 4EverythingNanny.com and NannyClassifieds.com were born.  They are truly a labor of love and I hope they help many families connect with their perfect Nanny.
